Job Summary

We're looking for a well-rounded Software Engineer to be part of our efforts to use AI in providing the world's best customer service. We have a huge amount of knowledge about how our customers solve issues for their customers. Conversational AI agents can use this knowledge to solve problems better and faster, including taking actions on behalf of customers, supervised by human agents. This is where you come in. We're standing up a new team to increase our capability in this field, and you can have a big impact on how this pans out.

What you’ll be doing

  • Publish well written and tested code to production.

  • Actively work on evolving a modern and seamless experience for our users, using the latest React-based technologies.

  • Build key frontend components and features for our Knowledge Graph, Web Crawler and Content Import capabilities.

  • Participate in brainstorming, designing, prototyping, and programming within an agile environment.

  • Cultivate a customer-centric approach within the team.

  • Effectively communicate your ideas and plans to other engineers, designers, testers, product managers - with clarity and consideration.

What you bring to the role

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-3 Years of experience in frontend or full-stack application engineering role.

  • 2+ Years of developing web applications ideally with React or Typescript.

  • Experience with implementing systems that serve content at web scale with high availability guarantees.

  • Strong communication and time-management skills

  • You believe building great software is a team effort and enjoy learning together through pairing, code reviews, tech talks, etc.

  • Comfortable taking ownership of all phases of software engineering: design, development, testing, deployment, and operational issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field.

  • Prior experience owning React, JS or Typescript services in a production environment.

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails or a comparable web stack.

  • Experience using monitoring/alerting to ensure the reliability of a system.

  • Contributor or owner of open source projects.

Tech Stack

  • Our code is written in Ruby, TypeScript and React.

  • Our servers live in AWS.

  • Our services interface through Kafka, REST and GraphQL on top of Istio.

  • Our data is stored in S3, RDS MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, and Aurora.

  • Our services are deployed to Kubernetes using Docker.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
