Job Description

We are currently looking for an experienced Engineering Manager based in Pune with a strong background in application development and event driven architecture to work on building the Real-time Reporting & Analytics pipeline at Zendesk. This role will be leading teams that are critically important to our Real-time Reporting & Analytics vision at Zendesk.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of building large-scale cloud applications preferably in a SaaS environment and leading a team of 5-10 engineers. They would have hands-on experience with real-time data pipelines, stream processing and OLAP databases. This position requires close collaboration with globally distributed Engineering teams and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery while maintaining the quality of the code.

Note**: This is a hybrid role, combining remote and on-site work, requiring 3 days in our Pune office.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead a team owning and building critical services for the Real-time Reporting and Analytics vision at Zendesk

  • Work with leaders across Engineering and Product Management to define how the engineering teams align with our long-term roadmap

  • Define, implement and deliver long and short-term business and technology initiatives collaboratively to optimize development and security, increase team efficiency, and support business objectives

  • Own services, products, and projects delivery across multiple teams with global dependencies

  • Provide mentorship, guidance and technical direction to the team for their growth while improving software delivery and ensuring team happiness

What you bring to the role

  • 7+ years in software engineering with 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or management role

  • Good understanding of application development, microservices and event driven architectures

  • Proven experience with large-scale cloud architecture preferably in a SaaS environment

  • Hands-on experience with real-time data pipelines, stream processing and OLAP databases (e.g ClickHouse, Snowflake, Kafka, ElasticSearch etc)

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Ruby or Python with a focus on system optimization and performance

  • Strong communication and collaboration with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders globally

  • Proven prioritization skills, to focus your time and energy on areas of highest impact while balancing short-term and long-term growth

  • Dedication to continual self-development and fostering a learning environment within the team

Please note that Zendesk can only hire candidates who are physically located and plan to work from Karnataka or Maharashtra. Please refer to the location posted on the requisition for where this role is based.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
