The role

As a Senior Associate in the Business Operations & Strategy team, you will play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives and operational excellence at PrimaryBid. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Data, Design and other functions, to identify and develop new business opportunities, work on market expansion, build new processes and optimise existing ones, and support decision-making at the highest levels of the company. The right person for this role is highly analytical, possesses strong business acumen and has proven experience managing strategic projects while working with cross-functional stakeholders at different seniority levels. The role reports into the Director of Business Operations & Strategy.

The team

The Business Operations & Strategy team works cross-functionally across almost all teams to support PrimaryBid in achieving its strategic priorities. We do this by:

  1. Supporting the development of company business strategy
  2. Leading company-wide strategic planning process
  3. Acting as a conduit between different functions to better enable cross-functional cooperation
  4. Drive speed and quality of execution of strategic topics and priorities

Day-to-day projects may range from building a business case to support a new opportunity, executing a new market expansion, to supporting the delivery of key functional initiatives against company OKRs.

Key Role Responsibilities

Strategic Analysis & Planning:

    • Conduct in-depth market research, competitive analysis, and industry benchmarking to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Work with Finance to develop and refine business models, financial forecasts, and performance metrics.
    • Assist in the creation of long-term strategic plans and quarterly and annual OKR planning

Operational Excellence:

    • Identify and analyse key operational challenges and bottlenecks; propose and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
    • Work with function leads to align operational strategies with business objectives.
    • Lead cross-functional projects to drive process improvements

Project Management:

    • Manage strategic initiatives from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with OKRs
    • Setup and run a project end-to-end including setting up a project team, monitoring progress, developing milestones and deliverables to meet objectives
    • Stakeholder management at different levels

Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Support meetings with senior leaders to identify key business challenges and opportunities.
    • Act as a liaison between the BizOps team and other departments to ensure seamless communication and alignment of plans
    • Provide support such as research and analysis for executive-level presentations, strategy discussions and decision-making

Key Role Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in consulting, business operations, or a similar role. Previous startup experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional projects and leading initiatives from concept to execution.
  • Good understanding of business operations, financial principles, and equity fundraising market dynamics.
  • Solid proficiency in gSheets analysis and Gslides presentation building with knowledge of other workspace tools including Jira and Confluence.

  • Consistently and effectively communicates both progress and issues at the right time to the right people including managers, peers and team.
  • Mentors and supports junior team members through sharing learnings and best practices.
  • Communicates and partners effectively across functions; is able to work well with any function necessary.

Senior Managers and Certification Regime

The role is a Code of Conduct (COCON) role. The holder is also required to act in accordance with the PrimaryBid code of conduct as detailed in the contract of employment, the Staff Handbook, PrimaryBid Procedures (Compliance Manual) and the firm’s policies.

Regulatory responsibilities

  • Promote a culture of compliance with all applicable law, regulation, internal procedures, and codes of conduct to minimise the risk of misconduct and prevent the use of the company to further financial crime. This includes any money laundering, terrorist financing, bribery, corruption, fraud, or breaches of UK and international sanctions regimes.
  • Ensure appropriate level of market conduct
  • Ensure that you and the members of your team complete all mandatory training
  • Maintain fit and proper status, disclose any circumstances which may lead to any breach of conduct rules, and assist with any investigations or disciplinary proceedings
  • Ensure the standard of documentation of all of the relevant department’s systems, controls, policies, and processes
  • Maintain decision making record
