Location of position: This role can be performed from your home office in Canada or from one of our vibrant office locations in Kitchener, Toronto, Winnipeg, or Vancouver.

Job Summary:

As a Proposal Manager, you will work in a high impact, deadline driven environment and be responsible for managing the response effort to Requests for Proposals (e.g., RFIs, RFPs, RFQs) for both prospective and existing clients globally. This role will require excellent communication, writing, time management, and project management skills. Successful candidates will have a team player mindset, adaptability, a positive attitude, the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to “do what it takes” to get the job done. You will be joining a strategic, highly respected team of Proposal Management Professionals.

Job Duties & Major Responsibilities (How Will I Make an Impact?):

Tactical:

  • Support D2L’s global Revenue organization by managing the complete lifecycle of a proposal from intake of the RFP and qualification of the opportunity through to submission.
  • Facilitate bid qualification calls, project kickoff, and regular status calls.
  • Create and distribute project outlines that break out RFP requirements into section assignments for relevant project team members for completion.
  • Simultaneously project manage multiple RFP responses on tight schedules and under elevated pressure.
  • Analyze RFP requirements and gather information from subject matter experts (SMEs) or the proposal knowledge base to craft responses to specifications.
  • Write high quality responses to business and services requirements, including technical content explaining how D2L’s Software as a Service (SaaS) products and services function, and perform writing and editing duties across all contributor responses to ensure proposals are compliant, clear, consistent, compelling, and error-free.
  • Gather information and work cross functionally with SMEs within the organization to create responses for proposals while maintaining a technical understanding of D2L product and service offerings.
  • Review, edit, and provide guidance on the creation of cover letters, executive summaries, and other key parts of proposals.
  • Enforce approved style guidelines and ensure a consistent look and feel of all outgoing proposals.
  • Facilitate proposal reviews.
  • Support all activities related to the assembly, production, and delivery of compliant and compelling proposals on time, in the format(s) specified.
  • Work with other Proposal team members to create and improve best practices and training material that ensure the RFP process is successful, efficient, and promotes winning proposals.
  • Provide feedback on proposal knowledge base documentation based on proposal responses and develop knowledge base documentation.
  • Train the Revenue organization on proposal topics and best practices as assigned.
  • Develop and cultivate strong relationships with relevant areas of the business to help strengthen cross collaboration, address Proposal team needs, and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Support Proposal team members and the success of team.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Strategic:

  • Advise management on proposal matters.
  • Ensure that all bids reflect proposal best practices.
  • Make recommendations related to value proposition.
  • Facilitate early strategy calls to help influence future RFPs.
  • Lead with influence amongst project teams to ensure smart bid decisions and submission of winning proposals.

Skills Requirements (Work Experience):

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing end-to-end proposal cycles, including:
    • Facilitating go/no go calls and kick off calls.
    • Managing project team and deliverables.
    • Analyzing specifications and gathering information,
    • Writing responses to requirements (including technical content for SaaS products and services),
    • Ensuring compliance and quality of final proposals and on time submission.
  • Experience managing RFPs from a range of global regions, including Canada, the U.S., India, Singapore, and the UAE.
  • Direct proposal management experience at a global SaaS company preferably serving the education sector.
  • Strong writing and project management skill sets.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe applications, Salesforce, and experience working with proposal automation software (e.g., Loopio).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and compliance parameters.

Skills Requirement (Education):

  • University degree in business required.
  • Masters in Business Administration is preferred.
  • Additional education in supply chain or procurement management is an asset.

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 CAD (to be determined based on experience and qualifications)

The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.

Base Salary Range
$75,000$90,000 CAD
